MISSION STATEMENT
The Exeter-West Greenwich K-12 School Counseling Program has been developed to ensure that all students will acquire the competencies, knowledge, attitudes, and skills, that are needed in the areas of academic, career and personal/social development, in order to become productive and responsible citizens in our diverse and global society.

PHILOSOPHY

The EWG School Counseling Program will service all students in grades K-12.

The School Counseling Program is based on stated goals and delineated student competencies.

The School Counseling Program is consistent with expected developmental stages of learning.

The School Counseling Program activities are planned, coordinated and implemented by the counseling staff in conjunction with other school personnel and community members.

The School Counseling Program is facilitated and managed by state certified school counse
lors. -
The School Counselors present evidence of program goal attainment at specific intervals during the school year.

All students:

Have access to a counselor to discuss personal concerns.

Have access to information about occupational and educational planning.

Have the opportunity to identify their personal attributes and skills.

Have the opportunity to make choices within the constraints of the educational system.

Students and staff are encouraged to recognize and respect the unique contributions, rights, responsibilities and esteem of self and others.

The students and parents/guardians are responsible for monitoring the students’ educational progress with the assistance of certified school personnel.

Ongoing professional development is necessary to maintain a quality School Counseling Program.

The professional mandates and ethical guidelines proposed by the American School Counseling Association and the Rhode Island School Counseling Association shall constitute minimal standards for the School Counseling Program.
